Continuous Cover Forestry Group (CCFG) – National Conference 2014

From Ted Wilson

Resources and outputs from the CCFG National Conference 2014 are now on the CCFG website. The theme of the conference was “Continuous Cover Forestry: delivering sustainable and resilient woodlands in Britain”. The event took place near Keswick, Cumbria and in several woodlands managed according to CCF principles (which focuses on small scale and single tree interventions) within the Lake District National Park. It attracted an international gathering of over 140 speakers and delegates. The conference webpage makes a comprehensive archive of material related to the science, policy and practice of CCF in Britain, and has relevance to discussions about adaptation of forest management systems to enhance ecological resilience. Included are the reports, research priorities, presentations, recorded presentations, conference posters, additional links and information. Links then take you to downloadable materials and YouTube videos of the lectures. The FEG was a major supporter and sponsor of this event, and is acknowledged for its significant contribution to the success of the conference. The Continuous Cover Forestry Group now has a programme of events and activities planned for 2015, including a study tour to Poland to look at “close-to-nature” forestry practices.
